The Highlands Factor:
Start With the Experience.

A new relationship with LiquidView. A new way to begin the project conversation.

What would you put on the other side of that wall if the building weren’t in the way?

That is a more interesting opening question than asking how large a display we can fit there. It invites the client to imagine a place, a feeling and a reason to spend time in the room. The equipment conversation can follow. First, we need to know what we are trying to create.

Scowcroft & Associates has announced its new relationship with LiquidView. It is a timely place to introduce a recurring feature I’m calling The Highlands Factor.

Start with the experience. Give every design and technology decision a reason to belong.
01 · Where the idea took shape

A destination needs more than a collection of products.

The Forest Highlands concept work gave us a useful way to think about that. Architecture, furnishings, scenery, sound, lighting and technology all had to contribute to the same imagined destination. The value came from seeing their relationship.

The Highlands Factor carries that thinking into other projects. It asks us to establish the experience we want to create, then assemble the people, resources and systems around it.

A listening room should make someone want to listen. An outdoor gathering place should make people want to stay. An enclosed room might benefit from a sense of connection to somewhere beyond its walls. Those are different design intentions. Each deserves its own response.

02 · A new view of the room

What if the view became part of the design?

A conventional window gives us the view the site provides. LiquidView introduces a different possibility: digital windows presenting cinematic views filmed around the world, with scenes that move through the day from sunrise to sunset.

That makes the view something we can discuss during design. What should it bring to the space? Where should it sit in the room? How should the surrounding architecture support it? How will people encounter it while working, resting or gathering?

For a dealer or integrator, those questions create an opportunity to join the conversation earlier, while the purpose and character of the space are still being shaped.

03 · Install the View

Let the transformation tell the story.

Our New View reveal begins with an ordinary backyard wall and develops it into an imagined outdoor destination. The setting, gathering area and visual world work together to communicate what the place could become.

It is a concept visualization. It expresses the Highlands Factor approach and the broader Install the View idea; it does not establish a specific LiquidView outdoor installation or product configuration.

Watch the reveal, then return to the starting scene. The useful question is simple: What changed about the experience of being there?

04 · The dealer conversation

Give the client something meaningful to describe.

A client may struggle to choose equipment before they understand what it could do for their space. They can often describe a place they love, a moment they want to repeat or a frustration they would like to resolve.

Who is this place for?

A person working alone, a family spending time together and a room full of guests bring different expectations.

What should happen here?

Define the activity and the desired feeling before deciding which systems need to support them.

What does the space already give us?

Consider its real view, light, proportions, circulation, sound and architectural constraints.

What would make it worth returning to?

Look for the lasting experience that will still matter after the novelty of new equipment passes.

Those answers become a brief. The architect, designer, builder and integrator can then evaluate their contributions against a shared intention. Product selection, installation requirements, control and service belong in that next stage of development.

05 · From imagination to a real project

The concept opens the conversation. The team makes it workable.

A convincing visualization helps people understand an opportunity. Moving it into a project requires confirmed products, appropriate applications, site conditions, coordination and a clear division of responsibility.

Our role is to help dealer partners connect that experience opportunity with the relevant resources and manufacturer conversations. The integrator remains responsible for developing the complete system and its fit within the client’s project.

The Highlands Factor will return in TECH CORNER as we explore other environments and experience ideas. Each installment will ask the same question: what are we helping people experience, and how do the pieces work together to make it happen?

The New View is the opening scene. The experience is the reason to build it.

Have a room, client or project that could benefit from a different perspective? Bring the idea to your Scowcroft representative. Start with the place and the experience you want to create.

LiquidView’s official product introduction supports the digital-window and sunrise-to-sunset view descriptions. The Highlands Factor, project questions and Install the View visualization are Scowcroft editorial concepts. Product suitability and implementation should be confirmed for the particular project.
